Welcome to our web site and, the entity we call Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Co. #1. I'm the current president, and as president I was hoping to write some encouraging words of wisdom. I decided, instead, to use my web page space as a tool to tell you about our fire company! The following is a breakdown of the many pieces and people that our fire company is comprised of!

We are Lehigh Township VOLUNTEER Fire Company #1.  As a volunteer fire company, our members wear many different hats.

Most of you know about the Fire Fighter hat and the job that goes along with our 50 volunteers that wear that hat. They respond to about three hundred calls per year.  Fortunately, we have only a few major fires each year.  A high percentage of our calls are M otor V ehicle A ccidents.  Others call types include automatic fire alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, trees and wires down on the highway, brush and mountain fires, smoke investigations, flooding, and many more.  Our volunteers are also called upon to help with Northampton Regional EMS for lift and other assists and also to provide mutual aid to neighboring fire companies.

Many of you recognize the Fire Police hat and the corresponding job that these 10 to 12 volunteers perform.  They respond to about 125 calls each year, and their job is to protect our fire fighters with traffic control.  They also help protect the public from dangers during other types of emergencies.

The third group of volunteers is wearing still another hat, the Fund Raising hat.  Fund Raisers are a "Mixed Breed" in the sense that some are simply and purely fund raisers, but many are also Fire Fighters or Fire Police.  These are the volunteers that you probably seen at our Country Fair, our Coin Tosses, Ham and Turkey raffles, Flea Markets, Oldies dances, Car Show, Blood drive, Fund drive, talks during Fire Prevention Week, or a Santa drop off and delivery.

The story goes on.  There is yet another group.  This group is made up of the volunteers that care for the day to day business activities of the fire company.  They are responsible for our property, our buildings, and see to it that our electric, heating and all others bills are paid.  These are the volunteers that make day to day decisions concerning how and where we spend the money that is donated by our faithful township residents or earned through our Fund Raising activities described above.  The volunteers that wear the hats' of president, vice president, treasurer, financial or recording secretary or any of the five trustee positions or any of the Fireman's Relief officers are also the same volunteers that fight the fires, do traffic control or fund raising!

The fifth group of fire company people is those that play a role in our Country Garden banquet hall business.  They wear the Country Garden apron. These are the people that you may have seen at one of our Buffet Breakfasts or Dinners, or maybe a banquet, party or wedding reception hosted by Country Gardens ! Country Garden banquet hall is another form of fund raising for our fire company.

We are a close family of nearly one hundred strong whose common goal is to serve and protect our friends and fellow citizens of Lehigh Township .  But, as you can tell from reading the above, we are so much more.

Our family is always looking for more brother and sister volunteers. Might you be interested? We CAN use your help.  If you think that you may have some time to VOLUNTEER with YOUR fire company for YOUR township community, let me know! Give me a chance to match your skill set and the hours you may have available to volunteer with a valuable task that this fire company and community needs. Teenagers 14 years of age or older can also join!

Regardless of that, remember this: we – your fire company family of volunteers - will be here, as those ahead of us have been since 1944, protecting and serving our community.

We ARE the men and women volunteers that combine our efforts, knowledge and strengths to serve our community and make Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Co. #1 the superb organization that it is today!
We are proud! We are strong! We train hard and we do our job the very best we can! We are serious in accepting our role and the service we provide for the residents of Lehigh Township ! We thank you for trusting us with your life and your future.
